I have hybrid pedals that you can use clip on shoes on one side and not on the other.

The seat is locked with one of those special locks with a serial number key to open it because I had my seat stolen before. So whoever stole it probably won’t be able to change the seat.

I had a heavy duty chain lock and the whole thing was stolen with nothing left over so they must have clipped the whole thing.

It was stolen on Jan 15th between 3:45 and 5 pm right in front of BAM on the racks to the left of the entrance.

All parts are pretty standard of the Bianchi Pista package, with exception to:

- Red color tires from Vittoria

- Front speed brake by Cane Creek

- Yellow handlebar tape (falling apart, needed replacement) from drop handles

- Black Velo seat (nicked on the left side)

- Chrome finish had alittle wear at neck from U-lock

I had it locked with a On Guard cable. They cut through it like butter. Was inside for about 30 minutes.

This is not my actual bike, but looks very similar (minus yellow tire).

Just stumbled across your page after slowly digesting that my bike got stolen in soho on w broadway btw. spring and prince street last night. I am still in shock and can’t believe it but trying to do everything possible to get it back. I had a U-lock incl. a multilocking system and always felt pretty safe and confident leaving it outside….till today this morning. It means so much to me getting it back cause it does not only have material value to me. I got it 1,5 years ago brandnew with everything attached (basket, backseat, eats.). It was a silver/ black trek citycruiser…this was the original but I changed it up a little bit:

- Bike was stolen from the first floor hallway of my building. (inside 2 locked doors accessible by anyone in the building (14 units in the building) Was locked with a kryptonite series 2 U lock to a rung of the staircase. Rung was broken off and bike was stolen

WE GOT OUR BIKE BACK!!!

After sending emails and posting flyers that were kindly reposted on blogs and websites all over the city, last friday evening, we got a call from a glorious fellow Brooklyn Biker saying that he found our bike! Sure enough, it was ours, and after a little red tape, we got it back.

We just wanted to send out a thank you email, expressing our gratitude for your help, support, and prayers. We’ve learned so much about the strength of our Brooklyn community! We feel so very blessed to be supported by such a community.

In this process, we’ve also learned a couple things that might be helpful to pass along to fellow bikers:

The NYPD has a free etching program to help prevent this sort of thing. Just take your bike to the precinct and they will etch a number on it. Then if the bike ever comes up for sale, or if it’s found locked to something, the NYPD will be able to access that number and turn it over to you (and help you cut the locks!)

We’ve also done a ton of research about bike locks, and now use an arsenal of locks to at least make the job a little harder for the next thief. Lock with more than one style of lock too, that makes a great difference.

BODY OF EMAIL: This is a really big box bike. The rider is seated in the back and four children ride in the box in the front. We used this bike to commute the two miles to school and back. So, we kept a specific schedule. Whoever stole the bike took it in the night between November 23 at 10:30pm and November 24 (thanksgiving!!!) at 9am. The bike was well secured with a heavy kryptonite-like heavy chain. It was even tarp covered to protect from the rain. Whoever took it had to have at least 4 ft. bolt cutters, but even with that it would have been a hard job. It seems pretty calculated. We’ve attached a flyer we made to help get the word out.
